Well Counter Shield
Part Number R100215
The standard well counters such as the CAPRAC®-t well counter comes with 0.5 inches of lead shielding. In radiopharmacies, the stock shielding is not sufficient while prepping and shipping doses.
Radium was approached by a prominent pharmacy where 4 to 6 PET doses ( ~ 12mCi each) were being prepped at a time. Even with the doses being in shipping pigs, the background was so high that accurate measurement of each individual dose was just never correct and this lead to delays in workflows and shipping. Traditional lead ring shields were not satisfactory due to visibility limitations.
As seen in this picture, Radium has developed a new shield for the well counter that goes over, allowing clear visibility and reducing background radiation to levels allowing accurate QC checks and preparation of several PET doses quickly and saving a lot of time in the work flow.
