ClearView Radiation Shielding- Frisker Cave
Working behind lead bricks with no viewing capability while performing frisking operations can be very cumbersome. The lack of transparency can cause probe contamination and an inconsistent geometry that can affect the smear readings.
Work areas with high background radiation require shielding for properly reading smears. This requires the radiation protection technician to leave the work area to take the readings or setup a lead brick enclosure at the work area. Lifting and placing heavy lead bricks or concrete blocks to form an enclosure is a health and safety hazard and very undesirable. To resolve these limitations and inefficiencies for the technicians, Radium Inc. has developed a lightweight transparent shielded platform to perform frisking operations in a more efficient manner – The ClearView Radiation Shielding Frisker Cave.
The Frisker Cave is a hollow cylinder housing made of acrylic and polycarbonate tubes, filled with ClearView RS shielding liquid. The transparency of the ClearView RS shielding liquid enables visibility while counting smears, performing general frisking operations, a consistent geometry for accurate measurement and repeatability, and prevents probe contamination. The Frisker Cave comes with sliding smear tray, a penetration hole in the back for the HP-210 probe cable entrance and a mounting bracket for a HP-210 probe. (Other mounting brackets are available for other probes) The Frisker Cave comes with a pedestal to place the shield which enables ease of working. Motion controlled LED bar is provided for dark areas. Depending on the size of the unit, it can be easily moved around and used in multiple locations using the optional Pelican case with casters.
The ClearView RS Frisker Cave is lead- free, non-toxic and easily cleanable. It is available in multiple thicknesses as per desired dose reduction.
